If you are one of the many who enjoy spending time on or around waterways then Boston has a great deal to offer. A short distance up river from the ‘Stump’ is the attractive Boston Marina, which is open to leisure craft and motor cruisers. The marina provides moorings fully serviced with water and electricity hook ups, showers, a chandlers shop and nearby pub. It is also possible to hire pleasure craft from the marina.

If you prefer someone else to do the hard work Maritime Leisure Cruises run regular boat trips up river from Grand Sluice on Wednesdays and Sundays. In addition there are regular sea trips out into The Wash.

The inland waterways in the Fens are well known amongst anglers for their bountiful supply of coarse fish. Boston’s waterways in particular are renowned for their big catches of pike, perch and bream. The most notable stretches are along the river Witham and canals, locally known as drains, such as Sibsey Trader, Hobhole and South Forty Foot.

If you are a cyclist or a walker not quite ready for the rigors of the Himalayas then the level nature of the terrain in the Fens could be just what you are looking for. Around the Boston area there are miles of quiet country lanes passing through picturesque villages and trails which border the sea and coastal marshes.

Boston Golfers are well provided for. There are 18 hole golf courses at Boston Golf Club and Boston West Golf Club, both have a driving range, pro shop and bars and restaurants. Nearby Kirton Holme Golf Club has a 9 hole course with club house and dining facilities.

For the fitness fanatic the Peter Paine Sports Centre offers activities such as squash and badminton, while the Geoff Moulder Leisure Complex includes a superb swimming pool , a toddler pool and a 45m flume slide. Dry side facilities comprise Creations fitness suite, sauna, solarium and Jacuzzi.
